Western Canada Portfolio Management Competition

UBC Finance Club is pleased to announce the 2011 – 2012 Western Canadian Portfolio Management Competition (PMC) presented by Deans Knight. Under the acclaimed Investopedia stock simulation platform, students of all skills and backgrounds have the unique opportunity to manage a $2,000,000 portfolio of stocks, through which they will hone their investment and trading skills. The PMC offers $800 in cash prizes, and costs only $10 per person to join (only $5 for UBC Finance Club members; click here find out all the perks of being a UBCFC member, and to buy a membership).
The PMC is great for anyone looking to start investing in the stock market, and absolutely vital for students interested in Finance. Any team that beats the index by 5% will receive a signed certificate from the prestigious Vancouver-based capital management firm Deans Knight. Having this recognition from the investment community will prolifically open up doors to sought-after jobs in the industry.

The competition will begin on Monday, October 24, 2011 and end on Friday, March 9, 2012. During this period, participants will receive bi-weekly emails with market updates, investment strategies, tips, and advice. Furthermore, you will gain VIP access to several investment and finance seminars given by high-profile guest speakers from the investment community and hosted by the Finance Club. Non-UBC students will also gain access to videotaped recordings of our seminars, online.
Registration Instructions
1) Participate individually or in teams of up to four.
2) Go to Investopedia, click Register at the top right corner, and create a username that you will be using for the competition.
3) Register at our booth located in Sauder School of Business’s CA Hall or ONLINE.
4) That’s it! You will receive your invitation one week prior to the start of the competition.
